Best swim, hikes and cycle routes in Sardinia

Sardinia is a popular touristic destination: people from all over the world travel there to relax on the white-sand beaches, eat delicious food or explore the inland with hikes or climb.

The island with 24,090 kmĀ² for just 1.64 million residents had always have lots of wilderness, people would get lost or at least forget to be living in an overpopulated world. These days things are changing though: is getting really hard to find beaches with no people and some remote mountains and canyon (such as Gorroppu) have a constant flow of tourist that kills its magic. But don't worry, you are in the right page, I'm here to guide you trough some beautiful yet wild beaches, hikes and cycle routes.

Beaches for wild swimming experiences

This is one of my favourite. It can get busy during summer but if you are aiming to swim you'll always have some enough space for it as most of the people.

25km loop from Olbia

This loop has become a classic for us. It start from the city of Olbia going towards the mountainous region of Padru and Berchideddu.

In Sardinia cities don't have many cycle lanes and in the countryside is even worst: cars go fast and don't leave enough space to cyclists. This route sees some traffic only in the section from Olbia to Loiri, Loiri to Enas is less busy and offer a nicer view of the countryside. The last section Enas to Olbia have a small road that run along the motorway for most of its lengths, it's car free most of the time.
