A homemade 15-foot cane rod, lines meticulously braided from the tail of a stallion, simple flies tied by hand without the aid of a vise—this is pesca alla Valsesiana. Originating on the small mountain streams of northern Italy, this simple, beautiful style of fishing has been in practice since at least the 16th century.

The new Patagonia film, Il Pescatore Completo, introduces us to this timeless angling technique, its enduring maestro and the special places where it is practiced with the same devotion and reverence as it was centuries ago.

Youtuber Bruno Pisani spent a night on top of Monte Pelmo (3168m), one of the most iconic and most spectacular mountains in the Dolomites!

He started to hike from the little village of Zoppè di Cadore, and kept hiking 5 hours 1700m D+ with his 18kg backpack.

The first part of the route to the top follows the famous “Ball’s Ledge” (Cengia di Ball), an exposed narrow ledge that was followed by the first man who climbed the mountain, John Ball, in 1857.

“Waking up at sunrise in such a solitary and wild place, surrounded by such incredible mountains, has been an incredible experience.” Bruno said.

Jedidiah Jenkins quit his job and decided to bike from Oregon to the southern tip of South America. His best friend, filmmaker Kenny Laubbacher, came along for the ride. This short film follows Jenkins as he shares what he’s learned from his journey so far. “When you’re a kid, everything is astonishing. Everything is new, and so your brain is awake and turned on … Once your brain establishes a routine, it stops … the alertness goes away,” he says.
